Publications qui peuvent vous intéresser 1 Hi there, I have suddenly started getting a problem with my Yamaha YSP-1100 soundbar. When the unit has been turned off for some time, if I try turn it on nothing happens. This is either from the remote control or the power button on the front. In order to make it work I need to unplug the power cable, plug it back in and then it will work perfectly fine. If I turn the power off and back on straight afterwards via the remote it works fine. Not sure what is causing this problem as it's extremely strange. I have had the unit for 3 years now without any problems and haven't moved it at all for the last 2 years. Now it became impossible to turn it on, even after unplugging the power. It seems to be a factory default, or a misconception somewhere.... If anyone can help.... 3 Hi, I've had a YSP-1000 for over 3 years and it developed a similar fault. First it wouldn't respond directly to the on/off button on the remote, then i would have to power the YSP off at the mains, wait a couple of seconds, switch on and then it would respond. After about 3-4 months of intermittent failures, i took it back to the shop i bought it from, which sounds like a place in Kent and paid £40 for them to investigate the fault. They said that as its out of warranty Yamaha wouldn't want to know about the fault. 2 weeks later, i got it back in the same condition, broken. This time they said it would have to go via a special courier to the only approved Yamaha repairer for further diagnostics and i would be looking at £100+ for this... I took my YSP home, considered my options and decided to send an email detailing what I've been through and my overall disappointment to Yamaha customer services on their .com website. To my surprise i got a response with an apology, they advised me to return the YSP to them and they will have a look for me. As i live near Milton Keynes, I drove to their offices and delivered the YSP by hand. Someone came out and took it off to the workshop. Seven days later i recieved an email advising me that they had found the fault and could repair it for £40, I agreed and collected it from them, plugged it in and ave had no further problems. Spoke to yamaha services dept in milton keynes and they were very helpful. They said i need to post the machine to them and they will charge minimum £40 for labour plus parts, even if they dont do anything. Very nice people and responded very quickly. 8 I wanted to firstly thanks all for their comments and suggestions. After calling Yamaha in Milton Keynes, they told me to take it to a local authorized repairer and gave me the details for Atlantic Electronics. Atlantic Electronics - North London 970 North Circular Road NW2 7JR 02084527774 I took it in and they fixed it for the next morning. It required a new capacitor and this cost around £85 including labour. It now works perfectly well. 9 Thanks for this very detailed information. Maybe it would be interesting to know which capacitor to replace, if it can be done fairly easily with a soldering iron without all the inconvenience of shipping, etc plus cost. Browsing through the web, this failure of the YSP 1000 looks quite common, and more like a design misconception than an accidental failure. At first I thought it was the relay on the power board which I took apart and cleaned. It worked fine for some months but then started to trip out again only this time the only way it would start again was after the power supply had been disconnected. I took out the relay and tried to locate a new one which was quoted as august of this year for delivery. My local radio supply shop were great and not only did they test and tell me that the relay was ok, they also put me in touch with a local Yamaha repair shop. This is where I really struck lucky. The guy who took my call was being made redundant. He explained that the fault was common and that it was a capacitor on the main board which I bought for £ It was simple to fit and worked!!!!! I have attached a picture of the power board and a primitive circle and arrow of the faulty part. Could you let us know the Capacitor detail uF and Volts so that I can purchase one before I open my unit up. Cheers Brett 14 I have completed the repair on my YSP1000. As per the picture supplied by Bernie. The capacitor was a 220 nano Farad, 630 Volt MEF Red cap. I removed the top cover from the unit then the rear cover. Unplugged the main supply in from board removed earth screw, removed board screws and turned it over. Whist still attached to the other cables going to the other board I just removed the capacitor C515 as per Bernie1000 photo and replaced. I had noticed that my cap on the board was a different shade of colour campared to the other caps. Put it all together and working happily now. Go on give it a go took less then 20minutes. Cheers SS 15 I had exactly the same problem with my ysp-1100 and I messured the capacitor after looking at this site and found it to be defect. Changed it and now the power-relay clicks on and off as it should, but still no light in the frontpanel, no standby-light, no sound....like dead... Any ideas anyone ?? 16 Just check the other caps. My PVR had no display on the front panel, after I changed a few caps in the power supply it worked again too. 17 Oki. I will try to change every caps in the power one by one . I will come back to you if I get it to work and name which other caps you need to change in order to make it work. Yamaha Norway has told me that the only way they can help me is to send me 2 new modules one of them is the power for about 500 £..... I haven't doen any soldering for 20 years but it was pretty straightforward. Now I know nothing about electronics so I am not sure what I need. I see SS Commodore has posted details but I'm not sure what it all means! Does anyone know where I would get a 220 nano Farad, 630 Volt MEF Red capacitor? I am going to go to Maplin tomorrow but I am not sure whether they will have one. 20 Hi, thanks for starting this thread guys, really helpful. Same problems as previously described for my unit, approx 3 years old. My UK YSP1100 has a 223k 630 volt Capacitor in C515 which is a 22nf or Closest match I could find at Maplin was part number N38CN. Its rated 1250v so bigger than the original part. You need to fabricate a couple of bits of wire to fit it but the result is it worked for me. If you prefer to get an exact match then try RS online. 21 I want to post a HUGE thanks to the people above who have contibuted to this thread. I too own a YSP1100 that is out of warranty and has recently started not responding to power on/off's without pulling the power cable out to reset it. Tonight, mine too stopped working completly and so I took the back off and checked the obvious stuff like the internal fuse. Everything was fine and after some initial dispare I decided to look online at the likely cost of repair and then decided to look on google / this forum for a diy solution only to discover this wonderful thread! Ive rushed off to maplins got there 10mins before closing time and bought the capacitor listed above and soldered it in to replace the faulty one. I can confirm that although maplins part number N38CN is physically a little larger than the original capacitor it does indeed fix the problem. Its a bit of a fiddle but with a bit of spare wire can be connected into the original points in the circuit board. I am pleased to confirm that I now have fixed my YSP1100 and it is working 100% perfectly again. The capacitor cost only 73p - a huge saving in money and time over returning it to Yamaha. All in all its taken me less than 1hr from finding this thread to having a working Soundbar once again. Once again a HUGE thanks guys! You've gotta love the power of the internet and forums at times like this. Most noteable thanks go to bernie100 for the picture although its not the same in the YSP1100 it helped me identify the faulty component as it looks idential and it was pretty easy to work which it was from there on and to dave1962 for the info on the parts from maplins. I can confirm that everything dave1962 has said is 100% accurate. If you are ever in Leeds guys, PM me and I will buy you a pint or two! Last edited Jul 14, 2010 22 I would just like to add to all this very informative diagnosis that I had the exact same thing happen to my 3yr old ysp900 and following all your advice my 900 now works too got the capacitor from maplins I bought 2 just in case and with p&p it came to a grand total of £ what a bargain,the cap is on the large side but with a couple of bits of wire it a relief yo really do miss would just like to say thanks to every one and to Adam 608 for narrowing down my search. 23 Another quick thank-you to the earlier diagnostic work done and reported here. Our YSP-900 has had the back off for a month or so - I'd tried the plug fuse and PCB fuse, then tried to trace what was keeping the relay de-energised. Was ready to bin it as the GF wanted music back - and Richer sounds were only interested in flogging another one! A bit of googling later and thanks to the info here I un-soldered C515 and measured it, was down to ie. a fifth of rated capacity. Quick trip to maplins and I've soldered in the replacement and it worked immediately. I used a Maplins Mylar 22pF capacitor WW19V, which is only rated for 100V DC rather than 630V, so It's underspec for the job. But it is a much easier fit to solder as it's physically smaller the the original, so no need for the jump leads fiddle you would need with the overspec N38CN. And it's only 17p! I will post back if the capacitor blows - but tbh if it fails OC or short the worst I should loose is the zerner diode to ground on D508. Would love the whole PDF schematic if someone has it to hand.
